Insurance Broker

Prairie Hills Transit (PHT) is initiating the procurement of an insurance broker for its 2026 insurance plan. This procurement will result in a one‑year contract funded in part with FTA assistance, and therefore all brokers must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. Each requirement must be fully addressed and explained in the submitted quote.

Minimum Qualifications for Insurance Broker

• Licensed in South Dakota: The broker must hold an active insurance producer license in the State of South Dakota.
• Act in the best interest of PHT: The broker must demonstrate a fiduciary‑style commitment to transparency, impartiality, and client advocacy.
• Experience with South Dakota nonprofits: The broker should have relevant experience serving nonprofit organizations within the state.
• Not suspended or debarred: The broker must be eligible to receive federal funds and must not appear on the federal suspension or debarment list.
• Transparent documentation: The broker must provide clear, itemized documentation of all coverage recommendations and pricing.
• Ongoing claims support: The broker must offer continued assistance throughout the policy term for claims and related issues.
• Ability to procure required coverage: The broker must be able to secure coverage for the following lines of insurance:

a. Property

b. Business Auto Liability

c. Business Auto Physical Damage

d. General Liability

e. Directors and Officers Liability

f. Employer Benefits

g. Improper Sexual Conduct / Abuse Coverage

Submission Requirements

All criteria listed above must be addressed in the quote, with a brief explanation demonstrating how the broker meets each requirement.

Quotes must be submitted on company letterheads and signed by an authorized company representative. All quotes must be received at 2015 Tumble Weed Trail, Spearfish, SD or via email to Bkcline@prairiehillstransit.com no later than September 1, 2026.
